- “A” 2022 has a brilliant, pale coral rose colour. On the nose, notes of roses, typical of the Aleatico grape, merge with delicate hints of apricots, lychees, and small red fruit. Its complex bouquet is completed by citrus fruit and jasmine sensations, resulting in a surprisingly intense aromatic profile. Its fresh and sapid palate accompanies fruit notes giving “A” extraordinary elegance.
Analytical data
dry
Immediately upon arrival in the cellar, grapes harvested from Aleatico vineyards exclusively to produce “A” were destemmed and delicately crushed. The skins were left in contact with the must for cold maceration for about 4 to 6 hours to extract colour and the most delicate aromatic components, preserving the grape variety’s characteristic freshness and aromatic profile. The must was transferred into stainless steel vats for alcoholic fermentation at 16 °C (61 °F). “A” was aged in stainless steel vats until bottling.

Winery | The Fattoria Aldobrandesca estate is located in the southern part of Tuscan Maremma, in the centre of what is known as “the Etruscan Tuff zone”. Maremma is often associated with its coastline, flat lands, pine tree forests, horses, and local cowboys called “butteri”. The Fattoria Aldobrandesca estate is in rural Maremma, located inland in an area known as the Tuff Area. Ancient civilizations built fascinating medieval fortresses and settlements on steep tuff bluffs that today are open-air museums. Small characteristic towns carved out of tuff stone in this area are Pitigliano, Sorano, and Sovana. The vineyards rise on the slopes of a spur of tuff where the hilltop town of Sovana is located, surrounded by a beautiful landscape of incredible natural beauty, rich in architectural heritage. The Antinori family have been producing wine in Tuscany for over six centuries and exporting it for four, spanning twenty-seven generations of uninterrupted family ownership … and counting. The first recorded mention of the family dates back to 1180 when they worked in the silk trade. Winemaking was added to the family’s activities in 1385, and during the sixteenth century, the wines spread, along with Antinori’s reputation, to France, Flanders, Spain and North Africa. The purchase of the Tignanello estate in the mid-1800s marked the beginning of a remarkable period of expansion. Since then, through judicious acquisition of vineyards and an uncanny knack for developing iconic wines, Antinori has become Tuscany’s – arguably Italy’s – pre-eminent wine producer. Some of the wines – Badia a Passignano, Pèppoli, Tignanello and Solaia – are each the product of a single estate, while Villa Antinori and the Vin Santo are blends of selected lots from several of the family’s vineyards, including the flagship Tenuta Tignanello site |
