- Chianti Superiore Santa Cristina is ruby red with purplish highlights. Its nose has fruity notes of morello cherries, aromatic herbs, and balsamic sensations. Its palate is soft and mouth-filling, with velvety tannins and a long, savoury finish. A classic Chianti, offering aromas of red berry fruit with vanilla and floral hints of violets. Flavoursome, medium-bodied palate, fresh in structure, and with a delicious balance of fruit and savoury notes. Typical spicy sensations from the oak on the back palate.
The purchase of the Tignanello estate in 1900 marked the beginning of a remarkable period of expansion, which shows no signs of abating. Through the judicious acquisition of vineyards and an uncanny knack for developing iconic wines, Antinori has become Tuscany’s – arguably Italy’s – pre-eminent wine producer, with an important presence in Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria, and Puglia. Marchese Piero Antinori sums up the company’s outlook thus: “Ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation.”

Winery | The Antinori family released their first wine under the Santa Cristina name in 1946. Since then, Santa Cristina has been a byword for quality and value in Tuscany – now more so than ever since the creation of a dedicated winery in 2006. The range now consists of reds and a rosé from Tuscany and whites from Umbria, so the winery’s location in southern Cortona is ideal. |
