It possesses a gentle yet undeniable potency, culminating in a dry and lingering finish. Crafted in a fuller, riper, and softer style, this wine continues to evolve beautifully with time. Clean, fresh, and exuding tropical notes, it sources its fruit from meticulously chosen vineyards spread across Marlborough.

Babich has a rare heritage in New Zealand, with their history long predating the viticultural boom of the last thirty years. Croatian immigrant Josip Babich made his first wine in Auckland in 1916, and one hundred years later, his descendants are still going strong – the third generation of the family, David Babich, now holds the reins. After harvest, the grapes were quickly crushed and pressed into stainless steel tanks at our Marlborough vineyards. The juice was fermented at controlled cool temperatures to capture the intense varietal flavours. After extensive tasting trials by the winemakers, this organic sauvignon blanc was blended, finished, and bottled.

Winery | Babich has a rare heritage in New Zealand, with its history long predating the viticultural boom of the last thirty years. Croatian immigrant Josip Babich made his first wine in Auckland in 1916, and one hundred years later, his descendants are still going strong – the third generation of the family, David Babich, now holds the reins. They boast an impressive 449 hectares under vine, spread across thirteen vineyards in Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough, supplying the vast majority of the grapes that go into their wines. This long history does not prevent them from thinking of the future. In 1987, their Fernhill Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay was the first to be sustainably registered in New Zealand, whilst the 57-hectare Headwaters Vineyard (the source of Mara Sauvignon Blanc) has been certified organic since 2013. This commitment to the environment continues today, enacted through their vineyard and winery practices. |
