Tasting Notes:
The Ca'Rugate Rio Albo Valpolicella 2024 is an exceptional red wine hailing from the prestigious Valpolicella region of Veneto, Italy. This organic wine is a delightful blend of three indigenous grape varieties: Corvina (45%), Corvinone (40%), and Rondinella (15%). With an ABV of 12.5%, it strikes a balance between flavour intensity and drinkability.
On the nose, it exudes a captivating bouquet of ripe red fruits such as cherries and blackberries, offering an inviting sweetness. These fruit notes are complemented by delicate floral aromas, adding layers of complexity. A hint of spice provides an intriguing depth that elevates the overall profile.
On the palate, this wine is smooth and supple with a velvety texture that lingers long after the last sip. Its medium body and crisp acidity make it a versatile choice, pairing wonderfully with both light and hearty dishes, such as pasta with tomato-based sauces, grilled meats, or cheese platters. Winery | The best grapes selected from Ca' Rugate's vineyards in the hilly area of Montecchia di Crosara are harvested at the beginning of October. The vines yield 110 quintals per hectare and are grown in soils made up of limestone and gravel with pebbles, which impart elegance and provide excellent drainage for the vines. The family business has been handed down through the generations of the Tessari family since the early 1900s. The estate was renamed Ca'Rugate in 1986, taking its name from the volcanic hills where the vineyards are located. Now run by the fourth generation, Michele has brought a lively, passionate, entrepreneurial spirit. Considerable expansion has occurred in recent years with investment in a new technologically advanced cellar and expansion into the Valpolicella area by purchasing vineyards in the hilly zone of Montecchia di Crosara. The estate now covers 90 hectares of vineyard. Ca'Rugate has been awarded the prestigious 'Tre Bicchieri' award rating from Gambero Rosso multiple times, making it one of the most awarded producers in the competition and has been hailed by the New York Times as one of the "Top Five producers of High-End Soave". |
