- Golden in colour with bronze hues, this is an intense and complex wine with aromas of apricot and peach jam combined with a delicate hint of walnut. Concentrated on the palate, there is a wonderful balance between the alcohol and sweetness. The fruit is layered with intense balsamic notes on the mid-palate, leading to a long, persistent finish.
The harvested grapes were dried in wooden boxes and then slowly barrel-fermented during winter. Part of the wine was aged in traditional "cavatelli," small chestnut barrels, and the balance was in oak barrels for 16 years. The wine was bottled and left to rest in a temperature-controlled underground cellar.

Winery | The vines are grown in the Gaville Estate near Florence and Chianciano near Siena, in south-facing lower hillsides of older vineyards that are no longer in existence. Planted during the mid-to late 1960s, the vines are spaced at 2.80 x 1.20 metres and trained on a double arch system. The sedimentary soils are rich in clay and conglomerate pebbles with green and grey calcite. Established in Greve in Chianti in 1967 by the Sacchet and Zaccheo families, Carpineto farms 500 hectares of sustainably farmed land, spread amongst five carbon-neutral estates in the regions of Chianti Classico, Alto Valdarno, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino and Maremma. Carpineto holds the VIVA certification for sustainability and is accredited with ISO 14001 and IFS. Formerly IWSC Italian Wine Producer of the Year, Carpineto was the first ever Italian winery awarded the IWSC International Winemaker of the Year. Antonio Zaccheo is now assisted by his son Antonio and daughter Francesca, who have both previously worked in the wine trade in the USA. After finishing her viticulture, Giovanni Sacchet's daughter, Caterina, joined the Carpineto winemaking team. |
