- It is a deep, rich garnet in colour with aromas of raisins, cedar, prunes, and cinnamon. 2010 is a savoury, herby wine with delicate spices, and the raisiny, figgy aromas follow through to the palate. This elegant vintage has fresh acidity and a long, dry finish. Bright ruby. Heady, rich, and gamey on the nose. Very hedonistic and accessible with real density and lifted slight gaminess. An attractive singed character on top of very ripe fruit. The finish has great balance and freshness (but not excessive acidity). Very neat in the end. Something rather wild and Romany about this. It is already accessible, even if I’m sure it will develop into an even more complex tertiary.
I can’t recall a vintage of Chateau Musar I’ve enjoyed more. 2010 is tiny in quantity but marked by a purity of rich, figgy, elegant red fruit and a seductive finish on the palate – Will Lyons, The Sunday Times Magazine, 5th April 2020

Winery | Seven years in the making, Chateau Musar Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, and Cinsault from vineyards near the Bekaa Valley villages of Aana and Kefraya on gravelly soils over limestone. Planted from the 1930s onwards, these mature bush vines (average age: 40 years) yield low: between 15 to 35hl per hectare. |
