A Classic Muscadet with a Modern Twist
The Chereau Carre Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie Château de Chasseloir 2022 is a refined French white wine that offers a perfect balance of fresh minerality and rich texture. Hailing from the Loire Valley, this Muscadet is crafted from the indigenous Melon de Bourgogne grape, renowned for producing crisp and elegant wines.
A Bright and Floral Profile with Depth and Texture
On the nose, this Muscadet showcases subtle citrus aromas, paired with delicate floral notes that set the stage for a bright and refreshing palate. As you taste, the wine delivers juicy fruit flavours and a natural, crisp acidity, all while maintaining a delightful minerality that Muscadet is celebrated for.
Maturation "Sur Lie" for Added Complexity
The key to this wine's character lies in its maturation on the lees ("Sur Lie")—a traditional technique that enhances the wine's body and depth, imparting a slight spritz and a creamy texture. This process elevates the experience, providing a smooth mouthfeel while keeping the wine light and refreshing.

Winery | Chereau-Carre is one of the leading Muscadet producers, with substantial family-owned vineyards in some of the best locations in the region. Their vineyard area totals 135 hectares of the highest quality soil, making them one of the largest producers of Muscadet. The estate is cultivated sustainably and holds the HVE certification. The wide variety of 'terroirs' available within the estate enables Bernard Chereau to offer a comprehensive selection of styles including those bottled 'sur lie' where the wine is drawn straight off the lees before bottling, resulting in more weight and complexity. The vines are grown in established vineyards, where more than half were planted over 50 years ago. Indeed, one area has vines that are over 100 years old. Grown in old volcanic soil, which imparts the final wine's characteristic minerality, the yields are low, providing a good concentration in the berries. |
