The grapes are grown in the San Floriano del Collio, Gorizia, Cormans and Mossa territories in DOC Collio. The soils in the hilly region are rich in sandstone with alternating layers of marl, which produces aromatic wines. The soils offer a good balance of water retention to nourish the vines throughout the summer and ample drainage if required. Gentle sea breezes come from the Adriatic Sea, which keeps the vines dry and healthy, while the Alps protect the vineyards from cold, northerly winds. Warm days and cool nights offer the perfect combination to allow slow maturation of the grapes, maintaining a beautiful balance between natural acidity and sugar levels. The vines are trained to the Cordon Spur and Guyot methods and are planted to a density of 4,500 to 5,000 per hectare.
