- Roserock Pinot Noir is a pleasure to drink, and delicious is the first word that comes to mind. It has a beautiful depth of character, with notes of crushed berries, pomegranate, and the essence of marionberry. This Roserock finishes strong with an exuberant spice quality and a refined, rounded mouthfeel. Drink now or hold for 8-10 years.
When Joseph Drouhin established his eponymous négociant company in 1880, he could scarcely have imagined that his family name would one day grace an estate in Oregon. Purchased by his grandson Robert in 1987, whose eye for an opportunity was instrumental in the company’s post-war success, Drouhin’s Dundee Hills vineyard was joined in 2013 by Roserock Estate in the Eola-Amity Hills. The original site has a remarkable similarity in climate, latitude, and aspect to the great vineyards of Burgundy, whilst Roserock has a cooler climate and volcanic soils; both produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with great clarity and finesse. Robert’s children, Véronique and Philippe, who oversee winemaking and viticulture, respectively, are also on hand to ensure the Drouhin style is present whilst simultaneously allowing Oregon’s unique terroir to shine through.

Winery | The Drouhin family’s path to winemaking prestige began in 1880 when Joseph Drouhin left Chablis for Beaune to start his eponymous négociant company. Over the last 140 years, Maison Drouhin has grown its business and reputation by acquiring parcels in some of Burgundy’s top vineyards, notably Musigny. Burgundy remained the sole focus until 1987 when Domaine Drouhin, Oregon, was founded on America’s West Coast. The discovery of another region capable of producing Pinot Noir on a par with Burgundy made a lasting impression on Robert Drouhin, whose daughter Véronique, newly qualified in oenology, went to Oregon to work the 1986 vintage. Domaine Drouhin Oregon, often affectionately abbreviated to DDO, was established soon after, when in 1987, Robert agreed to purchase a plot of land in the Dundee Hills. Since then, the wines produced at their gravity-fed winery have become undisputed benchmarks for the region. In 2013, the Roserock vineyard was purchased, expanding the vineyard holdings and introducing another district of the Willamette Valley – EolaAmity Hills – to the Drouhin range. |
