Domaine Laroche Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2022

The 2022 has been an overall generous vintage. The season started with early frosts at the beginning of April, fortunately causing little damage. The summer was very hot and dry, with some welcome rainfalls at the right physiological stages of the vine. The harvest started at the end of August, allowing the preservation of a great minerality in the wines. The vineyard has shown a great ability to resist various water stresses, thanks to careful canopy management and adapted practices in the vineyard. As the free-run juice was balanced and precise, thanks to the thick skins of these Chardonnay grapes, the winemaker has opted to use this portion of wine to preserve its brightness in the final flavour profile.

Once the grapes arrived at the winery, they were hand-picked and sorted. Following the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine spent 9 months ageing on its fine lees in French oak barrels (228L, 400L, 600L) in the historical cellars at the Obédiencerie, followed by a further 6 months ageing after bottling in stainless steel tanks.
