- A perfumed and elegant expression of Gevrey-Chambertin showing great aromatic precision, with notes of soft red fruits, violet floral nuances and ripe cherry with an opulent touch of chocolate.
The ripe and healthy grapes were hand-harvested and manually sorted. The destemmed grapes were gently pulled into the fermenters without a pump. Fermentation started naturally, using indigenous yeasts. During fermentation, several "pigeages" or cap submersions were used to impart colour, flavour, and structure to the wine. The wine was racked into French oak barrels, where it matured for 13 months, of which 15% were new.

Winery | Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine-producing village in Burgundy’s Côte d'Or. It is located far north of the Côtes de Nuits. The grapes for this cuvée come from the single vineyard ‘Creux Brouillard’, which translates as Hollow Fog in English. The vines have an average age of 50 and are very low-yielding, producing concentrated juice. The 0.73-hectare plot is situated at 263 metres elevation, at the bottom of a slope where the deep limestone and clay soils are relatively calm - it is one of the last vineyards to be harvested in the village. The style from this vineyard tends to be lighter and fresher. Julien respects the terroir; he ensures the yields are kept low, and the vineyard is certified organic. |
