- With exceptional charm and opulence, this Grand Cru Pinot Noir offers aromatic violet, vanilla, and black cherry notes. On the palate delicate toasty notes underpin the pure fruit, supported by rich, dense tannins through to a long finish.
Mazys-Chambertin is one of nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation of the Cote de Nuits. Located on a gentle slope, the vineyard faces east, and the Pinot Noir vines are trained according to the Guyot method. The old and low-yielding vines are 75 years old and have complex, deep root systems which produce concentrated juice. The soils are made of Premeaux limestone and are covered by a thin top of soil. The vineyard is cultivated sustainably, encouraging the vineyard's ecology and promoting the soil's biodiversity and health. The cool climate experiences hot summers and cold winters, with warm days and cool nights during ripening. These diurnal temperature differences encourage good accumulation of sugars and flavours, balanced by natural freshness. The grapes are hand-harvested into small crates of just six kilograms to preserve the quality of the fruit.

Winery | Pierre Naigeon is a leading and renowned producer in the Côtes de Nuits. The Naigeon family has been established in Gevrey-Chambertin for over 150 years. They acquired some vines and started to produce wine in 1890. The estate remained reasonably small until 2003, when Pierre purchased more land, increasing their holdings to 11.5 hectares. Pierre Naigeon believes passionately in sustainable farming without the use of herbicides. He believes in non-interventionist winemaking and aims to produce wines full of fragrance, revealing the natural terroir. The average age of his vines is remarkably high, mostly over 50 years, which endows the wines with extraordinary quality, maturity and concentration. |
