- Aromas of rich, black fruits are underpinned by delicious vanilla and roasted notes. On the whole and opulent palate, supple tannins and nuances of licorice and violet are layered with pure Morello cherry through to an elegant and velvety finish.
Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine-producing village in Burgundy Cote d'Or. It is located far north of the Cotes de Nuits. The grapes for this cuvee come from the single vineyard Meix Bas, which is made up of crinoidal limestone and sandy marls, which are effective bedding for Pinot Noir. The lieu-dit of Meix Bas is just 50 metres from the Premier Cru vineyards of Gevrey Chambertin. The continental climate has cold winters and warm summers, with cool nights, allowing the vines to produce balanced fruit with natural freshness. The vines are converted to organic status; weeds are controlled by soil cultivating, and chemical herbicides are not used. Only organic and natural products are employed to protect the vines against insects. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal maturity.

Winery | Pierre Naigeon is a leading and renowned producer in the Côtes de Nuits. The Naigeon family has been established in Gevrey-Chambertin for over 150 years. They acquired some vines and started to produce wine in 1890. The estate remained reasonably small until 2003, when Pierre purchased more land, increasing their holdings to 11.5 hectares. Pierre Naigeon believes passionately in sustainable farming without the use of herbicides. He believes in non-interventionist winemaking and aims to produce wines full of fragrance, revealing the natural terroir. The average age of his vines is remarkably high, mostly over 50 years, which endows the wines with extraordinary quality, maturity and concentration. |
