- Although it was a challenging year, the 2020 Genevieve’s Block Chardonnay came out on top with great texture and energy. Aromas of citronella, white flowers, and candle wax create a bright and lifted bouquet. This wine is fresh and focused in the mouth, with minerality and more acidity than the 2019 vintage. Juicy white currant and candied red apples stand out in the fruit flavour profile.
The block of Devoto Vineyard is on a west-facing hillside above the town of Sebastopol. The Chardonnay ripens slowly under the full weight of the Pacific Coast influence and produces a remarkably elaborate and elegant wine. The 900-some-odd vines that provide the fruit for this wine are a Donelan monopole.

Winery | Named for one of Joe's daughters, the grapes for this wine come from a small block of vines on a west-facing hillside above the town of Sebastopol. Here the Chardonnay ripens slowly under the full influence of the Pacific Coast, with cool temperatures brought on by a thick marine layer of fog that does not usually give way until noon, even in peak of summer. This cool, temperate environment allows for a protracted growing season that offers a remarkably elaborate and elegant wine with full flavour development without compromising acidity and structure. |
