The 2018 Nervi Conterno Gattinara begins with a beautiful nose of cherry, citrus rind and tobacco with a slight hint of mushroom freshly picked after the morning dew. On the palate, a juicy Bing cherry, a bit on the tart side, followed by shades of asphalt and wet tree bark. This is lighter than most Barolos due to the volcanic soil, but is it ever amazing? Lovely Nebbiolo, racy and delicious.
