Scala Dei is a trailblazer in the Priorat region, both historically and stylistically. Its origins date back to 1194 when Carthusian monks laid the winery’s sacred foundations and produced the first wines in 1263. Today, it maintains the artisanal, traditional spirit of its origins, under the guidance of enigmatic winemaker Ricard Rofes. In their seventy hectares of historic vineyards, Garnacha and Carinena grapes flourish. The wines exquisitely capture the essence of a rugged terrain and Mediterranean climate. Handcrafted with limited production, the wines exhibit a grace, energy, and transparent terroir expression, distinguishing them from others in the region.
