- An aromatic and textured Sancerre, with appealing notes of sliced citrus fruits layered with herbaceous nuances. Beautifully balanced with an uplifting citrus finish. 2021 was an extremely challenging vintage across the Loire Valley. A sudden severe frost hit vineyards during early April, damaging the buds and significantly reducing regional yields. Rainy conditions ensued from May until the end of July. August saved the vintage with long, hot, sunny days, allowing the grapes to ripen. At the beginning of September, a storm brought welcome rain, which helped to increase the yield slightly. While the production was significantly reduced, the remaining fruit produced juice of excellent quality.
This cuvee is made from grapes grown on the western soils of the Sancerre vineyard, where the Kimmeridgian soils are identified as the calcareous marls of Saint Doulchard and Buzanais. The soils are made of deep clay and calcareous flat stones on the surface, hence the name Les Terres Blanches, which translates as white earth as the rocks cover the topsoil and give the impression of a white land. These soils produce generous, long-lasting wines that reveal their potential with time. The grapes come from plots where the vine is over 25 years old. To preserve the character of this specific terroir, the soil is managed sustainably to safeguard the soil biodiversity and allow for the purest expression of these special soils.

Winery | This family-owned winery is the venture of Joost and Miguela de Willebois, who are descendants of an old French family established in the Netherlands in the 19th century (where the V became a W). Passionate about French culture and the Loire Valley, Joost and Miguela settled in Touraine in 1996 after being enchanted by Loire Sauvignon Blanc. They cultivate a range of terroirs across appellations within the Loire Valley, combining modern techniques, innovation and experimentation with respect for the soils and the terroir. They fully believe that by being as close to nature as possible, they can capture the land's soul. Patrice Merceron, winemaker and agricultural engineer, joined in 2014 and guided a team of dedicated winegrowers and winemakers to produce stunning Sauvignon Blanc wines which reflect the nuances of the Loire Valley. |
