- A silky and medium-bodied red with aromas of rose petals and cumin spice on the palate. Okuzgozu and Bogazkere complement one another beautifully, and this blend's harmony truly reflects the nature of Eastern Anatolia. Okuzgozu, with its dark-skinned grapes and generous acidity, pairs with Bogazkere and its intense tannins, fruit-driven and spicy character. This is a well-balanced wine with cherry and red fruit flavours in an easy-drinking style.
The two varieties, Okuzgozu (pronounced ‘O-kuz-goez-zu’) and Boagzkere, were vinified separately. Each underwent a cold soak and maceration for two days to extract aromas and flavour. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of fruit. The malolactic conversion took place, resulting in a softer style of wine. The cuvées were blended to make a harmonious wine.

Winery | The grapes are grown in Elazıg, Eastern Anatolia and Diyarbakır, southeastern Anatolia, where the climate is continental with cold winters and hot summers. The vineyards sit at an altitude of 900 metres above sea level. At this altitude, good diurnal temperature differences create long hang times, ensuring the fruit reaches good levels of concentration balanced by natural freshness. The red stone and clay soils have good water retention properties to nourish the vines through the warm summers. The vines are between 15 to 20 years old and are planted at a density of 4 x 2 metres, with an east-to-westerly orientation. Most are pruned according to the bush Gobelet system, and some vines are trained on a trellis. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal maturity. |
