- It is a focused, powerful, and creamy wine with the aroma of roasted nuts, peach, and sweet citrus blossoms complemented by complex oak spice. Citrus flavours and fine minerality lead to a refreshing finish. The Margaret River wine region is located in Western Australia and, in less than 50 years, has grown to become one of the world's great wine-producing regions. The fruit is grown in the Wilyabrup subregion, in a north-facing vineyard, with Aromas of roasted nuts, peach and sweet citrus blossom aromas and complex oak spices. Flavours of citrus, mineral salts and a fine, long acidity.
Grown predominantly in the '24 Vineyard' in the Karridale subregion of southern Margaret River, the vines were planted in 1988 at a density of 1,850 vines per hectare. The vines are clone numbers 95 and 96, all grown on their rootstocks. Situated facing a sunny, northern aspect to maximise sun exposure, the vines are influenced by cooling breezes from the Southern Ocean, with warmer westerly breezes from the Indian Ocean. It is one of the best examples of a maritime climate in Australia.
The fruit was hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed directly into 60% new French oak and 40% 1-year-old French oak from a combination of forests: Vosges, Troncais, and Allier. The juice was naturally fermented in a barrel, with only 10% allowed through full malolactic fermentation.
Aromas of roasted nuts, peach sweet citrus blossom aromas and complex oak spices. Flavours of citrus, mineral salts and a fine, long acidity.

He believes in paying meticulous attention to the vineyard, canopy and water management, picking at the right time and minimal intervention in the winery. Larry also makes wine under the Laissez Faire label, an exquisite range of natural wines that are the ultimate expression of the site. The wine is made in small batches from hand-harvested grapes. All his wines have pure class and finesse, from delicate whites to opulent reds. |
