- A pale rose with light peach reflections delivers expressive citrus notes of bergamot, pomelo, and orange zest over a generous palate of peach and apricot with lovely, defined freshness. 2022 was another dry year in Provence that proved the vineyards’ resilience to these challenging conditions. Given galloping maturity levels, farmers must be particularly attentive to harvest dates. Some late-summer rainfall kept everyone on their toes. Good phenolic maturity and slightly higher alcohol levels than last year were balanced with skilful blending. The vintage tends to be naturally paler in colour than the previous year.
The grapes were harvested at night to retain freshness and the aromatic profile, followed by gentle, direct pressing. Temperature-controlled fermentation took place with selected yeasts in neutral vessels to retain the purity of the fruit. The wines were protected with inert gas throughout the winemaking process to preserve their freshness and aromatics.

Winery | The grapes for the Azure cuvée come predominantly from the best parcels surrounding the village of Cotignac. The vines are planted at 200 to 300 metres elevation, where the soils comprise limestone and gravel. The combination of these soils and the cooling breezes at this elevation impart the fruit with aromatic expression and freshness. A further blending element comes from the ‘Golden Triangle’ around the village of Pierrefeu, where the continental and maritime climates converge, imparting the fruit with aromatic complexity and length. The soils in this area are rich in clay, which provides good water retention properties that nourish the vines during the warm Mediterranean summers. The vines are trained according to the Cordon de Royat method, and the vineyards are sustainably cultivated to promote soil and vine health and biodiversity. |
