When Pablo Morandé founded Viña Morandé in 1996, he did it with a great vision for the future and the same audacity that drove him years earlier to be the first person to plant vines in the Casablanca Valley. Adopting this pioneering view as our own, our winery was created soon after a wine range named “Aventuras” (Adventures).

Winery | Morandé was founded in 1996 by Pablo Morandé and found immediate recognition both domestically and abroad, being recognised as ‘Winery of the Year’ by Wine Enthusiast magazine in 1999 and ‘Vineyard of the Year’ by Wine & Spirits magazine in 2002. Morandé is now part of Grupo Belén, one of Chile’s largest and most successful wine groups. Pablo Morandé remains involved in the winemaking. Morandé are true pioneers – they were the first family to develop the Casablanca DO, recognising the fantastic potential of this cool-climate wine region. They also revived old viticultural regions such as Maulé and Itata, working with ancient dry-farmed bush vines and unconventional varieties such as Carignan, País, Cinsault, Grenache and Malbec. Their winemaking philosophy is guided by seeking the right terroir for each grape variety, and with significant vineyard holdings, they are well-placed to achieve this. |
