Delaire Graff Estate

Delaire Graff Estate

Delaire Graff, situated in the Cape Winelands in the historic Banghoek Valley of Stellenbosch, has a rich history. Originally known as Avontuur, the property was acquired by renowned wine writer John Platter in 1982, who renamed it Delaire, signifying ‘From the Sky’ in recognition of its breathtaking views. In 2003, Laurence Graff OBE took ownership of the estate and orchestrated its transformation into Delaire Graff, an esteemed producer of world-class wines and a luxury boutique estate.

Under the meticulous guidance of viticulturist Kallie Fernhout and winemaker Morné Vrey, the team expertly cultivates award-winning wines from the unique terroir on the crest of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass. The estate's high-altitude terraces on the steep slopes of Botmaskop Mountain benefit from cooling sea breezes from the Atlantic, resulting in grapes of exceptional quality. Delaire Graff wines are celebrated for their outstanding purity, which is a brand hallmark.

In 2022, Tim Atkin MW honoured Delaire Graff as a First Growth and ranked it 36th by the World's Best Vineyards 2023. The estate's dedication to beauty in its various forms is evident in its combination of mountain-meets-maritime terroir, which yields rich, intensely flavoured grapes and finely nuanced wines.

In collaboration with their team, Winemaker Morné Vrey and Viticulturalist Kallie Fernhout oversee 17.5 hectares of Bordeaux and Chardonnay vines. Their commitment to excellence is showcased in the handcrafted bold clarets, fresh whites, elegant rosés, and the exquisite sparkling Delaire Graff Sunrise Brut Cap Classique named after the largest square emerald-cut Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond in the world—cut and polished by Graff.
