More than a century ago, two intrepid adventurers from Piedmont, Mr. Sella, an innovative engineer, and Mr. Mosca, a discerning lawyer, embarked on a journey through the untamed landscapes of Sardinia. Captivated by the region’s breathtaking natural beauty and the rich potential of its terroir, they laid the foundations for what would become Sella & Mosca.
The journey toward transformation began in 1899, as they dedicated themselves to the reclamation of the land. By 1901, the first vineyard sprang to life, a testament to their vision. The following year, they constructed the iconic cellars, which have stood the test of time and continue to age exquisite wines today. Nestled just over six miles from the charming coastal town of Alghero, Sella & Mosca’s sprawling 520-hectare vineyard thrives on ancient, sun-kissed soil, where the grapes absorb the saline breezes and mineral richness from the nearby sea.
This intricate mosaic of terroirs extends to additional vineyards in the picturesque regions of Gallura and Sulcis, where the varied landscapes lend unique flavours and character to the wines produced. 2016 the estate proudly joined the Terra Moretti family, marking a new chapter in its storied history. Sella & Mosca has achieved certification by Equalitas, emphasising sustainability and biodiversity, reflecting its commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
Under the expert guidance of oenologist Giovanni Pinna, each grape is transformed into a stylish wine that beautifully captures the essence of Sardegna's exceptional terroir, inviting wine lovers to experience the spirit of this remarkable land.
