Combining tradition with state-of-the-art technology, La Rioja Alta, S.A. is an illustrious and globally recognized producer of classically styled Reserva and Gran Reserva wines. Founded in 1890, the company's establishment in the historic railway quarter of Haro resulted from the collaboration of five families, namely the Aranas, Ardanzas, and Alberdis, whose names are now commemorated on each of the Reserva wines. Over time, the company has expanded its operations, completing a purpose-built winery in Labastida in 1996. It is dedicated to enhancing quality and emphasizing the purest expressions of fruits in the wines. At the core of the ageing process lies oak. La Rioja Alta, S.A. takes pride in its in-house coopers, employing artisanal methods to craft barrels from US-imported wood, meticulously air-dried on-site in Haro. The vineyards are sustainably cultivated, and traditional manual racking, conducted by candlelight every six months, is a distinctive practice. The company's wines have consistently garnered international acclaim, with La Rioja Alta, S.A. earning the esteemed title of the 'World’s Fourth Most Admired Wine Brand' by Drinks International in 2022.
