Otronia Patagonia Pinot Noir 2020

The 2020 vintage was warmer than previous years, leading to a very early harvest - 40 days earlier than the previous vintage. The vegetative stage saw more days below 0ºC than is typical, with 15 days of frost compared to 6 days in 2019. This cold weather strongly slowed the early ripening period. The region saw 43 mm of rainfall, which is fairly typical for this dry region, and even the rain and the subsequent humidity were inconsequential due to the strong winds that dried the environment. Overall, the 2020 harvest was of high quality.

Grapes were selected from the best plot within parcel 22. Harvested in March, the wine was fermented in concrete eggs, with 50% whole clusters used. This was followed by malolactic fermentation, and once completed, the wine was aged in untoasted French oak foudres for 18-20 months before bottling.
