- A velvety and harmonious Nebbiolo, with a bouquet of raspberry, geranium and wild strawberry layered with spicy cinnamon and vanilla. The 2020 season was warm and dry, ideal for aromatic development in the berries. The thunderstorms at the end of the summer did not alter the balance of this late-ripening variety, thanks also to the great weather of the second half of September. The drop in traffic due to the Covid lockdown provided an additional benefit, seeing the vineyards in great shape when harvesting.
The grapes were sorted and fermented in stainless steel vats under controlled temperatures for four weeks, followed by a two-week malolactic conversion. The wine was matured in a second-fill Burgundy oak tonneau for 11 months before being prepared for bottling. Ruvaj refers to the bush in the Pedemontis woodlands.

Winery | The grapes come from the DOC Nebbiolo d'Alba appellation, characterised by rolling slopes cut by rivers and small bodies of water. Long ago, it was a coastal area, which can still be seen in the large presence of sand mixed with limestone that forms the soils, with the presence of fossilised shells. The grapes come from a sandy, calcareous plot of 0.80 hectares, situated around the ideal elevation of 270 metres above sea level with a south-easterly orientation. The vines are Guyot trained and cultivated with minimal intervention; treatments are as limited as possible, and minimal canopy management occurs. Manual harvesting takes place in small baskets to preserve the quality of the fruit. |
