- On the nose, the wine is characterised by notes of ripe red fruits, black cherries, plums and blackcurrants. Notes of vanilla and chocolate give sweetness and complexity to the wine. The typical balsamic note characterises this wine is intense and well-defined. The balanced acidity, silky tannins and savoury notes lead to a long finish with a pleasant balsamic aftertaste.
Destemmed grapes were vined in temperature-controlled 100 hl oak vats (not above 28° C). Selected yeasts induce fermentation. Depending on the vintage, the skins remain in contact with the wine for between 20 and 25 days. Ageing occurred for approximately 12 months in partly new and used French barriques.

Winery | Petra has vineyards in 4 locations: Suvereto, Riotorto, Piombino and Massa. Marittima. Every location has a particular terroir and micro-climate, but similar elements tie the vineyards together. The vineyards face the sea on hilly terrain with a distinctly calcareous character and are rich in ferrous materials. This reduces the vine's productivity, giving it an aptitude for ageing good |
