- An elegant and harmonious expression of Sangiovese, with plenty of ripe raspberry and cherry fruit framing the full and velvety texture through to a long, spicy finish. 2019 was characterised by a mild and dry spring with no rain. A warm summer followed, with cooler nights and good rainfall, which refreshed the vines and helped to avoid hydric stress. The grapes ripened slowly and steadily, resulting in an ample and savoury profile.
The carefully selected fruit was vinified in temperature-controlled 100-hectolitre stainless steel vats. Fermentation occurred with selected yeasts at approximately 24 to 26 °C, followed by a 10-day maceration at 28 to 30 °C to extract the colour, flavour, and tannins. Daily tastings ensured the desired levels of extraction were achieved. The wine was aged in 20 to 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak vats for nine months.
This is an elegant and harmonious expression of Sangiovese. Plenty of ripe raspberry and cherry fruit frames the full and velvety texture, which leads to a long, spicy finish.

Winery | The Pinino estate vineyards are located north of Montalcino, embedded like a natural amphitheatre into the beautiful and famous hillside of Montosoli. This distinctive geographical location has become known as one of the region's best areas for wine production. The Sangiovese grapes are grown in the northwest and north-eastern facing vineyards at 310 to 320 metres. The lower temperatures allow the grapes to express their finesse. The soil is rich in galestro (a rocky, clayschistous soil with a flaky texture and free-draining properties), clay and tuff. The Rosso di Montalcino comes from the younger vines, trained according to a spurred cordon method, resulting in good quality fruit. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably and are certified by Agriqualit; copper and sulphur are the only treatments employed. The grapes are exclusively hand-picked at optimal maturity. Each vineyard is divided into micro-sections, and the vinification is tailored to each section. |
