- This elegant Meursault offers tension and power, with an aromatic bouquet of flint, spice, and toast enveloping a core of fruit, through to a creamy palate with a refreshing saline note on the finish 2022 has been cited as an outstanding vintage and one of the best in recent years in Burgundy. The dry, warm conditions produced low yields of impeccably balanced, concentrated wines with searing freshness and remarkable purity. A mild winter followed a chilly spring, with frosts affecting some areas. Cooler temperatures in June resulted in uneven flowering and some millerandage in some vineyards. However, temperatures soared in July and August with vines under hydric stress, resulting in a superb concentration of flavours.
Immediately after the harvest, the grapes were gently pressed as whole bunches in a pneumatic press, followed by static settling of the juice for 24 hours at 12°C. The musts were transferred directly into barrels where the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations were carried out. The wine spent 14 months in lightly toasted ‘blonde’ French oak barrels, of which 30% were new. No racking took place during the maturation period.

Winery | The 1er Cru vineyard is situated south of Meursault in the Blagny area, where the vines make up a plot of 40 oeuvres (approximately two hectares), which were planted in 1959 and again in 2010 in this exceptionally chalky soil. The plot is located on the top of the hill overlooking Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, in what is known as the Hameau de Blagny. The vines here form a basin rich in white marl and produce low yields of concentrated wines with excellent natural balancing acidity. The hamlet is on the border with Puligny-Montrachet and is the highest point in Meursault, at 330 metres, situated on the edge of the woods. The vineyard is cultivated sustainably and is HVE Level 3 certified. Research is being conducted to analyse the soil geology to measure the impact of the cultivation decisions on the vine and the resulting wine. The grapes are hand-harvested. |
