- The wines from Quinta da Romaneira always have an aromatic intensity that is particular to this great terroir. This Romaneira LBV Port is seductive, charming and expressive, with great depth and ageing potential. Deep dark ruby-purple colour with intense aromatic personality, multiple spices, wild berries, and violets. Great elegance, pure fruit flavours, fleshy velvety tannins, powerful and with a very long finish.
The grapes were crushed by foot to extract the must, and they were then allowed to macerate in the traditional open stainless steel vats known as Lagares at the Quinta. This method was chosen to achieve the best colour, flavours, and phenolic compound extraction, followed by a 5-year maturation process in oak casks. This wine is unfiltered and will continue to develop in the bottle. As a result, it may throw a light deposit and need decanting.

Winery | The soils at Quinta da Romaneira are predominantly schist, with a laminated structure that facilitates drainage and allows the vine roots to penetrate deeply to reach nutrients and moisture. This soil type is poor in organic matter, promoting low vine yields and favouring high-quality grapes. The steep slopes also contribute to excellent sun exposure, which is ideal for the ripening of the grapes. The average age of the vines is 20 years for red varieties and 15 years for white varieties. The entire vineyard is grafted onto R99, R110 and 1103P rootstocks. Grapes are, by necessity, hand-harvested due to the steepness of the slopes. |
