  • The Tinto Cão red wine from Romaneira is a fine example of this grape variety. It exhibits a deep, ruby colour and offers a bouquet of dark berries with subtle spice and oak hints. On the palate, it strikes a harmonious balance between fruit and tannins, delivering a smooth texture and a lingering, graceful finish.

The wine was fermented in conical stainless steel tanks equipped with temperature
control, at a temperature of 25 to 27°C and using gentle pumping over 4 times a day.
It also underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. 100% of the wine was
then aged in seasoned 225-litre French oak barrels for 11 months.

Made from grapes grown exclusively in the Liceiras parcel of vines with a south/south
westerly exposure at an altitude of 149m-194m. The soils at Quinta da Romaneira are
predominantly schist, with a laminated structure that facilitates drainage and allows
the vine roots to penetrate deeply to reach nutrients and moisture. This soil type is
poor in organic matter, which promotes low yields per vine, favouring high-quality
grapes. The steep slope also contributes to excellent sun exposure, ideal
for the ripening of the grapes. The average age of the vines is 20 years for red varieties
and 15 years for white varieties. The entire vineyard is grafted onto R99, R110 and 1103P
rootstocks. Grapes are, by necessity, hand-harvested due to the steepness of the slopes.
