Winery | The soils at Quinta da Romaneira are predominantly schist, with a laminated structure that facilitates drainage and allows the vine roots to penetrate deeply to reach nutrients and moisture. This soil type is poor in organic matter, promoting low vine yields and favouring high-quality grapes. The steep slope also contributes to excellent sun exposure, ideal for the ripening of the grapes. The average age of the vines is 20 years for red varieties and 15 years for white varieties. The entire vineyard is grafted onto R99, R110 and 1103P rootstocks. Grapes are, by necessity, hand-harvested due to the steepness of the slopes. |
