- Quinta da Romaneira 2022 vintage is characterised by a deep, dark ruby-purple colour and a wonderfully spicy aromatic profile. Full of personality, this exceptional wine combines excellent elegance with a palate full of pure fruit flavours, complemented by deliciously fleshy, velvety tannins.
The grapes were trodden by foot and fermented with stems in traditional lagares with temperature control at 28º, where disciplined and intense treading is fundamental for a good final result. 20 months in the cellars of the Quinta, in the demarcated region of the Douro Valley, before bottling and ageing in the bottle for 8 to 15 years before attaining a Vintage Port's complexity and bouquet characteristics.

Winery | The soils at Quinta da Romaneira are predominantly schist, with a laminated structure that facilitates drainage and allows the vine roots to penetrate deeply to reach nutrients and moisture. This soil type is poor in organic matter, promoting low vine yields and favouring high-quality grapes. The steep slopes also contribute to excellent sun exposure, which is ideal for the ripening of the grapes. The average age of the vines is 20 years for red varieties and 15 years for white varieties. The entire vineyard is grafted onto R99, R110 and 1103P rootstocks. Grapes are, by necessity, hand-harvested due to the steepness of the slopes. |
