- This is a concentrated yet vibrant wine with berried fruits complemented by subtle spice. It is silky with a beautifully velvety texture. Subtle herbal notes and refined layers of oak spice and clove enhance the intense aromas of ripe blackberries. Full-bodied and concentrated yet juicy and vibrant, this wine delivers a beautifully textured palate of velvety, finely-knit tannins and a precise, long finish.
There is no predetermined formula for making Quinta de Quercus; the wine is individually tailored to the vintage's characteristics. The grapes were carefully selected and destalked before each parcel was vinified separately in small temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The temperature and length of fermentation and the number of pump-overs varied according to each tank, as did the length of the post-fermentation maceration. The wine was aged 12 months in 300-litre French and 225-litre American oak barrels, of which 25% were new.

Winery | The grapes are grown in Vina Ocana, the oldest vineyard plot on the Quinta de Quercus estate. The altitude is situated 800 metres above sea level and imparts a distinct freshness to the wine. The warm days are tempered by cool nights, and this temperature difference helps to retain the acidity in the grapes, balancing the concentrated flavours. The vineyard is gently sloping, and the old, low-yielding Tempranillo vines are planted in chalky soils. The vines are sustainably cultivated, and the grapes are hand-picked when they have reached optimum maturity. |
