  • The wine has rich black cherry flavours with hints of savoury, meaty notes in the middle. It finishes with a touch of black pepper and vanilla, and the smooth tannins add a rich and textural finish. The deep purple colour hints at a spectrum of plums, blackcurrants, strawberries, cherries, and bell peppers in the wine. The backbone of the Chateau Ksara range is a ready-to-drink, medium to full-bodied wine, which owes its inspiration to the wines of the Northern Rhone and Bordeaux with layered flavours and aromas of fruit and spice with body and freshness.

The grapes are hand-picked and destemmed before fermentation. The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in oak for six months before blending.

After hand harvesting, the grapes were destemmed and passed to a tank for fermentation, followed by a twelve to eighteen-day vatting period. After malolactic fermentation, the wines were passed into oak casks for six months before blending and bottling.

Winery

Château Ksara is Lebanon’s oldest and largest winery, and its establishment laid the foundations for the country’s modern wine industry. It is in the heart of the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon’s pre-eminent wine-producing region. Winemaking began in 1857 when the estate was inherited by Jesuit monks, who began farming a 27-hectare plot of land where they produced Lebanon’s first dry red wine.  In 1973, the Vatican encouraged its missions and monasteries worldwide to divest any commercial ventures, at which point Château Ksara already had an annual production of 1.5 million bottles. Identifying Ksara’s potential, a consortium of forward-thinking local Lebanese businessmen purchased the estate and invested in the vineyards and the cellars. Ksara has a broad portfolio, including French-inspired blends from the French colonial era and more modern styles, including a white from the ancient native grape Merwah. Today, they are among the best-known and loved Lebanese producers in the UK market and are a staple of any top Lebanese restaurant list.
