  • This wine presents intense aromas of ripe prune, tart cherry, and rich liquorice, complemented by a warm medley of spices. Delicate hints of vanilla, coffee, chocolate, and balsamic add depth to the aroma. It is full-bodied and well-balanced on the palate and showcases elegantly structured tannins that lead to a bold yet refined finish.

The grapes underwent an extended skin maceration. Fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks, and most were oxygenated to emphasise the fruit's character and produce a softer wine. This lasted for approximately three weeks. After blending the cuvées, the wine spent 12 months in Allier oak barriques, of which 1/3 was new oak, 1/3 first-year oak, and the balance stainless steel. The wine was bottled unfiltered and spent six months in bottles before release.

Intense aromatic notes of prune, bitter cherry, liquorice, and warm spice are layered with delicate vanilla, coffee, chocolate, and balsamic overtones. The palate is full-bodied and balanced, with charmingly structured tannins and a bold yet elegant finish.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is produced from the Montepulciano variety, grown in the Abruzzo region, on Italy's Adriatic coast. The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC title was established in 1968 and covers 74 miles of the eastern Abruzzo coastline and spreads inland for approximately 20 miles. The vineyards are located on the undulating topography created by the Apennine Mountain range. The foothills create ideal microclimates, taking advantage of the region's 2,260 hours of average annual sunshine. The vineyards within Abruzzo's coastal areas benefit from the Adriatic Ocean's oceanic influence, which moderates temperatures and aerates the canopy. The vines are trained according to the traditional overhead trellis system called Pergola Abruzzese. They are planted in medium-density clay soils with excellent water retention properties to hydrate the vines during hot summers.
