Before the establishment of the California wine industry, Buena Vista took its place as a pioneer. Established in 1857, it stands as California’s inaugural premium winery, characterized by a rich and proud history. Its founder, "Count" Agoston Haraszthy, introduced Vitis vinifera to California and erected the original stone winery that continues to be central to Buena Vista. One of California’s original wineries has transformed into one of its most distinguished, focusing on producing wines suited to cool climates in Carneros and Sonoma.
