This wine is powerful, rich, and complex, with balanced and smooth tannins that soften, developing leathery and cedar notes over time. It has a lovely, long finish. The deep purple colour is accompanied by aromas and flavours of raspberries and blackcurrants, with hints of vanilla, spice, and leather. In the mouth, it is rich and elegant and has a lengthy finish with fine, balanced tannins. This Bordeaux blend is infused with a touch of Mediterranean sunshine, offering a full-bodied profile with notes of red and black fruit, cedar, and bell peppers. The grapes are destemmed, fermented separately at 28 and 30°C, left for 14 to 30 days before malolactic fermentation and transferred to French barrels, of which 50% are new oak, for 12 months before blending and bottling. The wines are then aged for two years in our famous Roman caves.

Winery | Château Ksara is Lebanon’s oldest and largest winery, and its establishment laid the foundations for the country’s modern wine industry. It is in the heart of the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon’s pre-eminent wine-producing region. Winemaking began in 1857 when the estate was inherited by Jesuit monks, who began farming a 27-hectare plot of land where they produced Lebanon’s first dry red wine. In 1973, the Vatican encouraged its missions and monasteries worldwide to divest any commercial ventures, at which point Château Ksara already had an annual production of 1.5 million bottles. Identifying Ksara’s potential, a consortium of forward-thinking local Lebanese businessmen purchased the estate and invested in the vineyards and the cellars. Ksara has a broad portfolio, including French-inspired blends from the French colonial era and more modern styles, including a white from the ancient native grape Merwah. Today, they are among the best-known and loved Lebanese producers in the UK market and are a staple of any top Lebanese restaurant list. |
