- An elegant and refined Nuits Saint Georges delivering pure fruit aromas of wild red berries and rich spice.Opulent, with notes of strawberry, vanilla and licorice enveloped in supple tannins through to an exquisitely long finish.
The grapes come from a tiny plot of just over a quarter of a hectare in the single vineyard of 'Les Herbeux', which was planted over 50 years ago. The low-yielding vines face the rising sun and are grown at the foot of the hillside on a very gentle slope. The soils are a combination of very white limestone, which is typical of the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges, and imparts a mineral character; and deep clay, rich in iron, and the vines grown in this soil give structure, depth and spicy aromas to the wine. The vines are cultivated organically without using herbicides or insecticides, and the vineyard will be certified organic from the 2019 vintage.

Winery | Pierre Naigeon is a leading and renowned producer in the Côtes de Nuits. The Naigeon family has been established in Gevrey-Chambertin for over 150 years. They acquired some vines and started to produce wine in 1890. The estate remained reasonably small until 2003 when Pierre purchased more land increasing their holdings to 11.5 hectares. Pierre Naigeon believes passionately in sustainable farming without the use of herbicides. He believes in non-interventionist winemaking and aims to produce wines full of fragrance, revealing the natural terroir. The average age of his vines is remarkably high, mostly over 50 years, which endows the wines with extraordinary quality, maturity, and concentration. |
