2019 Charmes-Chambertin: Slightly riper yet still agreeably fresh aromas offer up compote-like aromas of red and dark currant, green tea and the hallmark sauvage whiffs. The caressing yet powerful flavours also possess good size, weight and reasonable mid-palate density, all wrapped in a serious, firm, mildly tangy finale. This is pretty and finer than the Rognets or the Mazoyères, though it’s not as well-balanced.
