- Bric Turot is intensely garnet red in colour, lively and bright. The nose expresses intense notes of violets, rose petals, and hints of jam, mountain hay, and spicy sensations. The enveloping palate is full-bodied, harmonious, and velvety, revealing intense balsamic notes. Flavours and aromas linger on the persistent finish. This balanced and pleasant Barbaresco results from a combination of factors: the vineyard’s diversified exposure due to the shape of the “bricco” (the summit of a hill in local dialect), a specific clonal selection and ageing in barrels of different capacities.
Immediately upon arrival in the cellar, grapes were destemmed and crushed. Maceration on the skins took place over approximately 10 days at a temperature that did not exceed 30 °C (86 °F). Malolactic fermentation was completed before winter. The wine was aged in oak barrels of varying capacities for about 12 months. Bric Turot was then aged in the bottle for a year before being released.
The weather in January and the first part of February tended to be moderate, with mild temperatures and limited precipitation. The month of March brought frequent rain showers that abundantly replenished groundwater reserves. The following weeks were cold, climatic conditions that delayed vines' recovery from their growth cycle by about 10 days, which continued until the end of summer. The harvest began on October 5th and was completed on October 12th.

Winery | Alfredo Prunotto founded his business in 1922 and was one of Piemonte’s most dynamic exporters until his retirement in 1956. The company passed then to Prunotto’s friend Beppe Colla, now a revered winemaker and one of the founding fathers of modern Piemonte. His defining moment was the decision in 1961 to bottle single-vineyard, or “cru”, wines from the finest sites – a practice that is now the norm in the region. Those wines were made from boughtin grapes, but in the 1990s, the current owners, the Antinoris of Tuscany, extended the Prunotto holdings, including plots in the outstanding Bric Turot and Bussia vineyards. Barolo Cerretta and Barbaresco Secondine augmented the range of crus two decades later. Since 2014 there has been a stylistic change and a further uplift in quality: Prunotto now makes some of the purest and most aromatic Nebbiolos in the region, as well as satisfyingly concentrated and deftly balanced Barberas. |
