- The wine exhibits bold and rich black cherry, herbs, and vanilla flavours, culminating in a robust and spicy finish. Its intensity is balanced by delicate floral notes and a hint of vanilla spice derived from expertly integrated oak. The palate is smooth and flavoursome, underpinned by a solid structure leading to a warm and spicy finish.
Fermentation occurred in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures, followed by a long maceration to extract colour, flavours and tannins. The wine was aged for 12 months in 225-litre French and American oak of second passage, followed by four months in a bottle before release.
It is an intense wine with black cherry flavours complemented by delicate floral notes and vanilla spice from the well-integrated oak. The palate is smooth and flavoursome, with good structure, and it finishes spicy and warm.

Winery | The Pegoes vineyard is between two Nature Reserves: the Tagus estuary to the Northwest and the Sado on the Southwest. To the east are the Arrabida hills, and to the west, the Alentejo province's clays. The unique soil here is named "Pliocenico de Pegoes". It is a sandy soil formed over millions of years by sand transported by the Tagus and Sado rivers. This Mediterranean climate and soil combination creates this unique Pegoes terroir. Santo Isidro de Pegoes was founded in 1958. The cooperative is made up of 90 winegrowers and has access to over 1,200 hectares of vineyards located in the Terras do Sado area of the Setubal peninsula. This coastal area benefits from mineral-rich sandy soils and cooling Atlantic winds. Santo Isidro de Pegoes is one of the most forward-thinking cooperatives in Portugal, and its chief winemaker, Jaime Quendera, is one of Portugal's most respected winemakers. In 2017, Santo Isidro de Pegoes was awarded the Portuguese Wine Producer of the Year Trophy from the IWSC. |
