Scala Dei is a trailblazer in the Priorat region, both historically and stylistically. Its origins date back to 1194 when Carthusian monks laid the winery’s sacred foundations. Today, it maintains the artisanal, traditional spirit of its origins under the guidance of enigmatic winemaker Ricard Rofes. The wines exquisitely capture the essence of a rugged terrain and Mediterranean climate. Vines have been grown for centuries in some of their seventy hectares of historic vineyards, where Garnacha and Cariñena grapes flourish. Handcrafted with limited production, the wines exhibit a grace, energy, and transparent terroir expression, distinguishing them from others in the region.
