The Paso Robles AVA, nestled in California's Central Coast, is defined by its diverse topography with rolling hills and varied microclimates. The region is carved by the Salinas River, which meanders through its heart. The soils are varied and range from limestone to shale and alluvial. They are dotted with ancient volcanic soils that lend complexity and character to the wines. This varied landscape creates a patchwork of microclimates and terroirs. Paso Robles has a warm Mediterranean climate with long, sunny days and cool nights. This diurnal shift produces balanced wines with vibrant acidity and concentrated flavours. The region's proximity to the Pacific Ocean brings cool, moist air and fog, particularly in the Templeton Gap, a break in the Santa Lucia Mountains that funnels maritime influence eastward. This cooling effect helps to moderate temperatures and extend the growing season, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. The fruit is sourced from four different vineyards at elevations of up to 365 metres in the Estrella, San Juan.
Creek and Highlands districts. Each block has a different elevation, soil type, row direction, clone, and rootstock, which impart complexity to the blend.
