- Dr Carrodus continued to make the wines until he died in 2008. The estate’s new owners are both long-term fans, and they continue to honour the founder’s quest for elegance and sophistication. The perfumed nose is characterized by aromas of lilac, red cherries, and a touch of aniseed spice. This wine has a silky elegance combined with a defined tannin structure. The grape and oak tannin produces a medium-bodied yet powerful style, dominated by black cherry fruit and subtle Chinese five-spice notes. It is a Pinot Noir that will reward cellaring.
It took the vision of a now legendary plant physiologist and Roseworthy winemaking graduate, Dr Bailey Carrodus, to help re-establish the Yarra Valley as one of Australia’s pre-eminent wine regions.
