- A red wine with unusually high aromatic content made on the organically run Masi Tupungato estate at Mendoza, Argentina. Modern wine with a non-conformist style, striking for its intense fruitiness and delicate spiciness. Its strong and exuberant character comes from the local Malbec grape, while the addition of lightly dried Corvina Veronese gives it the easy appeal and attractiveness of Venetian wines.

The vinification technique used for the Passo Doble is a Masi speciality double fermentation. After soft-pressing the Malbec grapes, on-skin fermentation lasted sixteen days at 21-2ºFC in stainless steel tanks. The second fermentation was induced with selected yeasts; whole Corvina grapes were used, and a brief appassimento treatment was given before crushing. This fermentation lasted fifteen days and was followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine was then spent nine months in French oak barriques, with thirty per cent new wood.

| Winery | Masi chose the Tupungato Valley in Mendoza, Argentina, as the site for its ‘‘Vigneti La Arboleda’’ company. Here, native grapes from Venetian regions are planted alongside emblematic Argentinian varieties—Malbec and Torrontés —to make wines using the appassimento method from Valpolicella, in which Masi is a recognized specialist.
