France showcases a diverse selection of rosé styles, encompassing the delicate pale pink Sancerres, the mineral-infused, almost saline refinement of Provence, and the opulent offerings hailing from the Languedoc.
Château Grand Boise
Steeped in history, the Château Grand Boise was founded in 1610. The highest estate in Provence overlooks the Arc Valley and faces the imposing Mount Sainte-Victoire. The estate has only changed hands four times in its long history, and since 2013, under the current management, the estate has been restored to its former glory. The 90 plots of vines covering 45 hectares are scattered throughout the 400-hectare hillside estate. Significant investments in the vineyard have involved 70% of the vines being replanted under massal selection, organic and biodynamic farming, horse-drawn ploughing and manual cultivation of the vines. At Château Grand Boise, they believe that respecting nature is more than a philosophical position; it is a commitment. Winemaker Jean Simonet took over in 2012, and pledging to realise the potential of each plot, he skilfully crafts terroir-driven wines which truly reflect this magnificent estate.
Domaine Mirabeau
Stephen and Jeany Cronk founded Maison Mirabeau after selling their home in London and moving their family to Provence to realise their dream of creating an award-winning wine brand. Some years later, they purchased Domaine Mirabeau, a beautiful wine farm in the Plaine des Maures and started their regenerative farming project. Stephen has also co-founded the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation to understand soil health better and become a hub of information on regenerative farming methods for other wine farmers. The 20-hectare estate includes 14 hectares of vines, which are farmed regeneratively and organically and are certified HVE Level 3. This estate produces their award-winning flagship cuvée ‘La Reserve’.
Domaine Serge Laloue
The domain is located five kilometres south of Sancerre in Thauvenay and was established by Serge Laloue in the 1960s. Christine and her brother Franck have continued their father’s work since the 1990s, and Clément, Franck's son, recently joined the domain following his viticulture studies. The estate revolves around an environmentally responsible approach with meticulous work in the vineyards to respect the natural balance of the vines and obtain the highest quality grapes. In 2019, the domain started converting to organic farming, a natural progression, as their farming methods were already very close to organic. The first certified organic vintage will be in 2023. The domain is HVE certified, a complementary certification recognising environmental biodiversity and natural resource management.
