  • A salmon-pink wine with aromas of berry fruits, peonies, and jasmine. In the mouth, it is fresh and light, vivid, elegant, and balanced. A lush, elegant rosé with a vivid salmon pink hue and a nose of peony and jasmine. Gris de Gris is round and balanced with flavours of red fruit and a savoury finish—a salmon-pink wine with aromas of berry fruits, peonies, and jasmine. In the mouth, it is fresh and light, vivid, elegant, and balanced.

Made using the direct press method, the wine is sedimentated, fermented at low temperatures, and stabilized by refrigeration. It is then immediately bottled to preserve its freshness and aromas.

Ksara's vineyards are located in the central and western Bekaa Valley at an average altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. The Bekaa Valley enjoys dry summers and has its natural water table courtesy of the melting snow running off the Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon mountain ranges. Cool nights help the vineyards withstand the summer's heat and drought. The vines are either double Guyot or cordon trained and are grown in stony soils, which are predominantly chalk. The vineyard is not irrigated, and the standard yield is between 40 and 45 hectolitres per hectare. The grapes can be considered to be grown organically because of the minimal use of sulphur-based pesticides.

Winery

Château Ksara is Lebanon’s oldest and largest winery, and its establishment laid the foundations for the country’s modern wine industry. It is in the heart of the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon’s pre-eminent wine-producing region. Winemaking began in 1857 when the estate was inherited by Jesuit monks, who began farming a 27-hectare plot of land where they produced Lebanon’s first dry red wine.  In 1973, the Vatican encouraged its missions and monasteries worldwide to divest any commercial ventures, at which point Château Ksara already had an annual production of 1.5 million bottles. Identifying Ksara’s potential, a consortium of forward-thinking local Lebanese businessmen purchased the estate and invested in the vineyards and the cellars. Ksara has a broad portfolio, including French-inspired blends from the French colonial era and more modern styles, including a white from the ancient native grape Merwah. Today, they are among the best-known and loved Lebanese producers in the UK market and are a staple of any top Lebanese restaurant list.
