- This Barbera wine exudes elegance and silkiness. Its ripe blueberry and cherry jam flavours are accentuated by delicate, toasty notes. A delightful freshness and a velvety texture impeccably balance its richly fruited palate. The 2022 vintage was an early, dry vintage. Winter was mild with low rainfall, and spring continued with good weather and no significant rain. Bud break was standard across varietals. High temperatures from the end of May lasted throughout June, accelerating new vine development. July saw a continuation of the fine, dry weather trend and high temperatures. The vines adjusted independently to the low water availability, showing less vegetative growth. The vines were healthy at harvest.
Once the grapes were air-dried, they were carefully sorted, gently crushed and destemmed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 28 to 30°C. Maceration on the skins lasted for two weeks, with daily pump-overs of the cap, ensuring the desired levels of colour and flavour extraction. 30% was matured in French oak tonneaux of a second use for six months.
An elegant and silky Barbera with ripe blueberry and cherry jam flavours complemented by delicate toasty notes. The richly fruited palate is balanced by lovely freshness and a velvety texture.

Winery | The Barbera grapes for this appassimento method wine come from the northern banks of the Tanaro River in Piedmont. The site was chosen specifically, as the soils are sandy and dry with good mineral content, which does not require much treatment. The cooler climate of the area (compared to the traditional Langhe area) and the influence of the Tanaro River create a specific microclimate that suits this production method. The cooler climate also naturally reduces the need for treatments, which are only used when necessary. The Barbera variety produces rich and textured fruit, and this site produces grapes with a naturally enhanced sugar concentration, a strong character, and a delicately spicy element. The grapes are hand-harvested into small wooden baskets, then stacked on each other to form columns and placed in a fruit shed, providing the perfect conditions for drying the whole cluster of grapes and concentrating the sugars. |
