- This Chardonnay is a delight with its rich texture and vibrant, crisp fruit flavours, accented by hints of honeysuckle, lime blossom, and beeswax, which linger into a zesty, gingery finish. Following a dry winter with below-average rainfall and a cool start to spring, the vines remained dormant until late March. The spring months continued to be dry and cool, slowing shoot growth and resulting in low yields and smaller berries. This led to fruit with concentrated flavours, deep colour, and a luxurious texture. The 2021 harvest benefited from advantageous, mild weather throughout the picking season.
The manually harvested grapes were barrel-fermented with indigenous vineyard yeasts to fully express the site. The wine underwent careful bâtonnage, the amount and frequency of which were carefully tailored to the barrel. The wine was matured for 14 months in 100% French oak, of which 10% was new, and 90% was second or third passage.
A beautifully textured Chardonnay with bright, crunchy fruit notes complemented by hints of honeysuckle, lime blossom and beeswax through to a gingery kick on the finish.

| Winery | The grapes come from three vineyards within the Russian River Valley AVA, but predominantly from Bush Vineyard, near Dutton Ranch, where the clones are mainly Old Wente and Hyde. Renowned as one of California's coolest and foggiest AVAs, the microclimate creates the perfect conditions for producing highly acclaimed Chardonnay, with warm days and cool nights. The warm climate is tempered by the cool coastal breezes and the trademark fog that lingers over the vineyards, bringing moisture and cooling the vines. The result is a long hang-time, during which the vines slowly build aromatic complexity and concentrated flavours superbly balanced by natural, crisp freshness. The soils of the Russian River Valley are made up of Goldridge soils, a rare, fine-grained sandy loam, which is light and fluffy and known for its excellent drainage properties. The vineyards are certified as Sonoma County Sustainably Farmed Grapes. |
